Si and I traveled to Boston last week, and I'm so glad to say we made it home alive!

We had a wonderful visit with my sister in her small town of Greenfield, MA.

Our trip began with a nap-deprived baby who was awake the whole flight and screamed a good portion of it.
When we got to Boston, we got our rental car and planned to stop and get coffee, nurse, and make the drive across the state to Western Mass.
But instead we got stuck in downtown traffic (it was election night AND Mitt Romney's headquarters in Boston), my rental car got a flat, we were stuck downtown on a busy boulevard for three hours, caught a ride with the tow truck back to the airport (I was holding on so tight to that carseat), and got a new rental at 11:30pm.
My phone only had 7% battery life left, but I managed to find a hotel nearby. We checked in to a hotel around 12:30am, and got settled around 2am. Poor Silas was so miserably exhausted from being constantly woken up, his whole face was bright red and I've never seen more tears from that little guy.
Since the hotel had no cribs, I set up a cozy little nest for Silas next to me, and caught a few winks of light sleep (I was paranoid about the covers on Silas) before I got up at 6.

I realized I hadn't eaten since before I got on the plane the previous day, so I got a little breakfast and some coffee, and we were on the road.
Silas was a doll and slept the whole way to Greenfield with one stop to nurse.

Whew. We're still recovering.

Silas fancies smashing his face into mine, all the while licking me and shaking his head like an excited puppy.

And I love it!

must. stay. awake.

Si much prefers an all-hands-on-deck approach to reading.

Also, I was looking back at some pictures and posts recently, and I noticed that Silas would just...fall asleep! Just like that! One minute he was awake, then all of a sudden his eyes are closed. Silas has now lost that ability, unfortunately. The other day we took a day trip into the mountains and Silas stayed awake THE WHOLE TIME. Seven hours, no nap. He was miserable!

out for a walk

Yesterday we walked to Hudson Gardens (which is practically next door) to get some local honey from their big hives. And I learned that they don't even sell their own honey, but other places do. That makes no sense!

Also, Silas is currently rocking the trend of mixing patterns. And he looks so good doing it too!

Happy Tuesday!
